Cabin in the woods

Designed and built by Robin Milne and Duncan Passmore in collaboration with and for Martin Turner of Life Space Cabins and his wife Ness.

We Designed this cabin to Martin and Ness's brief for a forest hideaway. First we created comprehensive plans to scale. We used local Japanese larch straight off the mill at Dart valley Timber and pre-fabricated the frame and wall modules there in the mill thanks to Zav Bowden (proprietor). This was not an easy site so we decided on low impact concrete piles set into massive 200mm diameter auger holes.

Once in place we bought all the components on site in stages on the back of Duncan's pickup. Martin provided the re-claimed joinery and cut the beautiful chestnut posts straight out of the woods for the balcony.
